What did you do?

1. After launching the game, go to the main settings window
2. Drag the font rescale slider
3. The window constantly tries to update itself to the new font scale while the slider is still being dragged, therefore lagging a lot and being choppy/frozen while it tries to keep up
4. The new window scale also changes the position of the slider itself. Coupled with the lag, ending the drag a bit after sliding, while the window is still trying to update, can leave the slider at a different position than what was intended/originally shown, so you have to repeat the process to try to set it right

Having a higher font resolution set probably makes this more apparent.
