Revised airdrop mechanism and distribution
Current state
Airdrop is only available in the genesis phase, and people must recycle their Cosmos private key,
Possible ideas and solutions to debate
- Implement more conditional, time based airdrops. This would require people to make specific actions (signing something, maybe more) and allow them to have different public keys on Cosmos and Gno.
- Distribute GNOT to ATONE & PHOTON token holders, as a way to keep the initial promise, as well reward participation in our community and economy.
- Airdrop tokens unclaimed after X months are redistributed to ATONE / PHOTON holders + possibly git-vetted contributors. Maybe redistribute to AtomOne community pool.
- If we implement contribution based claims, what would be the criteria. How will it be processed?
Additional info
- This is part of a larger transformation of AtomOne and Gno.land into a larger, interconnected ecosystem where ATONE, PHOTON and GNOT tokens serve specialized roles.
- We don't know the overlap of ATONE and GNOT holders. If the overlap is large, then this issue is redundant.
Initial discussion was on the public Gno.land TG channel
I believe the original airdrop eligibility promise should be fully honored and preserved. Many community members, myself included, have been waiting for over 3 years with the expectation that the initial commitment would remain unchanged.
If any modifications are to be introduced, the fairest approach would be to simply implement a reasonable time-based claim period. After that period expires, any unclaimed GNOT could then be redistributed through additional airdrops or allocated to other intended community initiatives.
Maintaining the original terms is essential for preserving trust, credibility, and fairness toward early supporters who have been committed to this ecosystem from the beginning.
Thank you.
I think we can first estimate the number of addresses that were still active in the snapshot address three years ago and the corresponding total GNOT. If there are a large number of inactive addresses, I think airdrop reallocation is reasonable
My 2 Satoshis: I think the original airdrop criteria are a starting point, not the definitive edition. So if there is a desire to build out or elaborate on those conditions, without invalidating them, that should be uncontroversial.
Introducing time-based claiming requirements, additional eligibility criteria, etc all seem fair and within the scope of the project’s prerogatives.

As long as the original airdrop is maintained, I’m fine with any additions that don’t cause harm. Ideally, there should be a short claim window — something like one month — and anything unclaimed should go to a second airdrop. Another option could be setting a cap on the original airdrop so that no big player can dump a huge amount of GNOT right away. For example, a maximum of 50,000 GNOT per user would be reasonable and unlikely to affect the price. All the leftover GNOT could then be allocated to that second airdrop. That way we could avoid what happened in JUNO with the famous Japanese whale who crashed everything by holding more than 100 million. Don’t keep us in suspense for too long — I’m already on the verge of dying from the suffering of not knowing what’s going to happen.
