Essential Commands + Carpet = spawn test

If you use the /spawn command in Essentials, you can call the additional menu of the Carpet mod and lay down the server using /spawn test

Do you mean there's a command conflict with another mod?

You can disable /spawn command in Essential Command's config. Anyway, the spawn point is a property of a world, which saves inside level.dat So you don't need another more /spawn command for that purpose
