Changing the terminal format

I'm unable to copy texts because of the "box" format of the terminal. Can you change the format?

I'd add a similar request: having an ability to use a simple console I/O where it would accept keyboard input and upon Enter print the output in a streaming mode.

The idea here is to allow to connect to an external serial console, some vintage dumb terminal, for a perfect always-on retro-futuristic experience.
