I'm not sure whether or not the software should do this yet, but the possibility of grabbing roborio-####.local addresses from node-mdns is there.

Definitely something to be worked on. Spitballing Ideas: We should leave the current system in place and allow it to be used as an overload. Also make sure the mDNS address doesn't get overwritten into the localstorage so the last saved IP is the last user entered one. Have a tickbox to enable/disable mDNS.

My apologies for accidentally closing. Just throwing some other ideas out there, we will need to handle conflicts with multiple devices. I know we had our network configured very oddly where multiple robots were all accessible at the same time.
