Geo-Replication Broken between nodes after security updates on Ubuntu
Hi Glusterfs team,
We have been working on a weird issue where the geo-replication between two nodes is failing after the security updates were applied on one of the node. The GFS session was build up from scratch multiple times but all in vain. I was asked on the glusterfs slack channel but nothing fruitful was received. Please see the attached debug and let me know how can this be resolved.
Best regards Q
Hi @qtasneem537,
We also faced a broken geo-replication in Ubuntu (GlusterFS 11.1 / Ubuntu 22.04 LTS). The problem has been introduced with USN-7206-1 (Multiple CVE in Rsync have been fixed). The underlying changes in Rsync prevent geo-replication from working correctly, and I'm far from confident that GlusterFS will be adapted to this behaviour change.
As for now, we had to manually revert the rsync package (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS : 3.2.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.3 => 3.2.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.2), and to hold the package (apt-mark hold rsync) to have a working geo-replication.
Regards,
