Installing Gluster 10.3 on Ubuntu 22.04

Open devinfra1 opened this issue 1 year ago • 11 comments

Good afternoon,

We have open issue #4220

To solve this problem, which is bothering us a lot, I would like to downgrade to Gluster 10.03, which apparently is not experiencing this problem, according to reports.

We use Linux Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy.

I didn't find the '.deb' file anywhere to install version 10.03 for my version of Ubuntu.

Hello, I had the same issue and there is a version 10.1 available when you add version 9 ppa. Link here. Or do you have any issue with the 10.1 version too ?

Hello @mmlcek ,

I hadn't tested this version yet. Thank you for the information;

I will be downgrading and carrying out tests.

Have you faced the same 'No Space left on Device' issue in your environment?

The above link contains a typo, right? Because different versions should not be available in the same repository/"pocket" (see here instead for v10.x).

@devinfra1: If you search for all available versions in the above repository, you won't find v10.3, though. You need to either look for the associated build logs on launchpad here (and may want to look up why it seemingly has been excluded from the repository in the first place) or downgrade to an older version like v10.2 (if feasible).

@m-ueberall ppa for version 10 contain a bug as mentioned by @devinfra1 Therefore, this is the fastest solution on ubuntu 22. I personally had to compile and build packages for 10.3. But 10.1 should work too. Also you mentioned packages for another version of Ubuntu, therefore I vote for lower version compiled on Ubuntu 22. It's on you of course ;)

Yes, you're too fast, I had to correct the above link (copy&paste is hard at times). This lists all existing past builds: https://launchpad.net/~gluster/+archive/ubuntu/glusterfs-10/+builds?build_state=built (and points you to https://launchpad.net/~gluster/+archive/ubuntu/glusterfs-10/+build/24492040).

Yes and it's pain. I wish you the best luck with finding the working version.

Hello, it shows its for ARM64. We are looking for AMD64 build. But thank you for trying to help us ;)

Unfortunately, in this case you're out of luck with respect to retrieving existing builds from Launchpad as these have already been deleted (and you cannot use the Focal packages for AMD64 which are still available either because those are linked against an older version of OpenSSL). Maybe the team admins (contact form can be found here, this might be the fastest way to get their attention) can trigger a rebuild or provide you with a copy from an official offsite archive (if there is one)?

Good morning, @AmineYagoub

I didn't find any way to install this version on Ubuntu 22.04.

I ended up installing the GlusterFS 10.01 version. Added PPA 9.

Did you downgrade from v11? Any tips/tricks/issues?
