iOS: Ability to disable "Inbox"

Open tadamcz opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Describe your feature request On iOS, it would be great to have:

  • The ability to disable the "Inbox" sidebar element

The Inbox was turned off by default on MacOS in https://github.com/glushchenko/fsnotes/issues/1169, so this is especially confusing because the Inbox concept from iOS has no equivalent on MacOS. There is already a menu on iOS that allows disabling "Notes", "Todo", "Untagged", "Archive" and "Trash", but not "Inbox".

"Inbox" also opens by default when opening the app (see https://github.com/glushchenko/fsnotes/issues/1320).

Hi, @tadamcz!

I succumbed to the pressure and disabled the default Inbox in FSNotes 5 for macOS. In a future release for the mac I will return everything back.

The reason is:

The application should start as quickly as possible, and if you make "Notes" the default, you will either have to wait a long time for all notes to load. I like the concept of Inbox, quick start, and loading everything else in the background.

In any case, thank you very much for the feedback, if you have arguments, I will be glad to hear.

Performance on opening the app in iOS is a good point. But if I don't use Inbox as a concept, all my notes created on iOS will end up in Inbox. So the number might become large as well.

It's probably a bigger lift to write this, but you could consider just loading the first ~100 notes when the app opens, and loading the rest in the background.

In a future release for the mac I will return everything back.

Is opening performance a big problem on MacOS? Personally I have the app open at all times.
