This combines the other PRs with a couple other changes I've made for rafx. I think it may be more convenient to discuss/iterate on it this way than doing individual PRs. (Feel free to close this if you want to do it differently!) I'll add some comments in a bit.

I noticed locally just today that something still isn't right with macOS resizing. So maybe best to hold off on publishing anything until I look into it some more

Found the issue! macOS should be good now. It may be worth adding some rendering beyond clearing the screen since the macOS issue was not apparent with the examples.
