I've just tried syncftp (Ruby 2.0.0p247) and found that it doesn't work without this patch. What happens is this:

/usr/lib/ruby/2.0.0/net/ftp.rb:324:in `getresp': 450 remote/dir/.syncftp: No such file or directory (Net::FTPTempError)
