Gmail "to" field doesn't play nicely

Firenvim does not seem to play nicely with gmail's "to" field - It seems gmail's suggest a contact feature end's up quitting out of the window, leaving me unable to type anything in either firenvim mode or close it in time.

Strangely, Firenvim does not autostart in the "Subject" field and plays nicely in the email body.

  • OS Version: linux x86-64
  • Browser Version: Firefox 81.0
  • Browser Addon Version: 0.1.32
  • Neovim Plugin Version: 0.1.32
  • What I tried to do: Access the "to" field in a new email
  • What happened: Firenvim starts and then quits out, leaving me unable to type anything in the field either with Firenvim or with normal mode.

I'm not sure if I was able to explain the problem well, here's a gif showing it better - The problem only lies with the "To" field:

Thanks for the report :). I'm not sure what could be going on here. It's probably going to take a while for me to fix this so in the meantime I'd recommend changing your firenvim settings to either disable Firenvim on mail.google.com or to make the selector Firenvim uses more specific so that it only triggers on the message body area.

I'm experiencing this exact issue on Chrome Version 89.0.4385.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit). .

Confirming this is still an issue in Google Chrome 92.0.4515.159; definitely not limited to Firefox. Makes GMail unusable without creating a custom firenvim config object.

What is the custom firenvim config object that might solve this issue for now?
