Artifacts in the golden orb demo

Open yomboprime opened this issue 2 years ago • 8 comments

I see some artifacts when lowering the camera angle below the orb center. The artifact fades in rapidly as you lower the camera.

For me it is like the rays that hit the orb at a point above the artifact line don't reach the blue platform after that first bounce.

Intel i5 with Radeon GTX580, Nouveau drivers. It happens both in Chrome and Firefox.

Oh odd... I probably won't be able to reproduce this. But if you'd like to dig in maybe you can uncover the variables that are producing that pattern? I'd just output some of the local variables to color to see if anything seems to change drastically at that mid point. It looks like like the secondary bounces from the floor aren't hitting the orb, either...

Looks like this was fixed somehow? 🤷

@supermoos Thanks! Looks like the same issue - I'll reopen, then.

Yep, I confirm by seeing the video it is the same effect.

It happened to me also with a Radeon (Gigabyte Radeon RTX 580), but now I have an nVidia and I can't reproduce the bug anymore 😔

BTW: My Radeon also had 8 GB.

Maybe it's a browser / driver bug, posting two images here in the latest chrome and latest safari - Chrome is not working as expected: Screenshot 2022-10-28 at 08 25 36 Screenshot 2022-10-28 at 08 25 55

Maybe it's a browser / driver bug

Oh this is good information - sounds like a browser-specific issue, then, if it's working on Safari. Can you maybe submit a bug report for chrome here? Thanks for digging in a bit more!
