enhancement - issuing commands to an already opened instance

can there be a way of issuing commands to x-tile while it is still opened and / or in systray? when an already opened instance is running, and i run "x-tile" again, it will open a second window. similar to other programs, there could be options like "--new-instance" so that the default behaviour is opening already existing instance unless explicitly asked.
