Don't require text for Link posting on Reddit
š Feature description
When you select the "Link" option for the Reddit post, allow the user to post without needing to fill into the 'Write your reply...' section.
š¤ Why is this feature needed ?
Reddit Post that feature links do not have a requirement for text on the post. Text on a post can also take away from the Link's primary focus.
For instance, if you post a link to a picture, on old.reddit.com, the picture will be shown in the thumbnail. Twirling down the post will reveal the image itself.
However, if you post a link to a picture with accompanied text to the post, the picture isn't featured on the thumbnail, and when the user twirls down to see the post's contents, the post will only feature the text, as opposed to the image.
āļø How do you aim to achieve this?
- Click Create Post
- Select Reddit Account
- Select Settings, Click on Link.
- 'The post should be at least 6 characters long' should disappear after clicking the Link.
- Be allowed to post or add to calendar without needing to fill in 'Write your Reply...'

š Have you spent some time to check if this feature request has been raised before?
- [x] I checked and didn't find similar issue
Are you willing to submit PR?
None
I apologize about link / text focus. It seems like it is more reliant on which subreddit it is posted to.
Still, not requiring text for a link post would be a nice feature to have.
Running into the same problem, any known workarounds?
Iād like to support this feature request. In general, it would make sense to not require any text when creating post. Users should have the freedom decide whether they want to add text, media or just share a link.
own workarounds?
Signature with 6 spaces, which is always inserted.
