Request: Tabs stay at fixed position
Hey, thanks for the plugin. Is it possible to make the Tabs stay the same position if opened? My brain is not able to handle the constant changes in the tab bar order. Kind regards, Daniel
Unfortunately, this is a consequence of how the appearance of tabs is created. => the 'active tab' is removed from the 'tab header' as it must display its contents, this results in a shift of one position
With my current ability it's not a feasible feature to add, perhaps in the future.
For the time being, have you considered enabling tab numbering? It's made to help with pane relief shortcuts, but can also serve to help with tab positioning.
I was so surprised that the tabs switch themselves around, that's not how I expected the mod to work at all. Please add this, I would love to work with Obsidian notes the same way I do with Chrome/Edge/Firefox tabs.
would love this too, only thing that keeps me from using this plugin.
1+ for me. Not having this is making it a bit unusable for me. But it's still better than the default behavior.
really hoped that it behaves like npp tabs :( +1

I'm not a full programmer, but wouldn't it be possible to create an identical/imitation tab element that takes the place of the active tab once it's removed? This would have the appearance of keeping the active tab in the tab bar and prevent the shift that's causing a lot of confusion. You could make all the "real" tabs have an inactive look, then when a user clicks a tab it gets replaced with an imitation tab that has an active look.
Maybe then you could also hide the main file title to prevent redundancy with this active tab, or make it an option.
I also came here to request this! If it's not possible, that's fine, it's still a good plugin, but I really have trouble keeping track of the tabs when they keep moving around! Thanks!
