"No Repository Detected" while working in git repository

Description

I am working out of VS Code in a git repository initialized in an iCloud folder on MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1. When I open Gitlens from the sidepane, I receive an error: No repository detected To use GitLens, open a folder containing a git repository or clone from a URL from the Explorer.

VS Code Version

Does the built-in Git extension work with this folder?

The git extension does not work either.

I'd recommend filing an issue on the VS Code repo as that is needed before GitLens can work.
