Feature request: `calt` only frozen build
Texture healing would be nice, but only being able to get it in most software by accepting ligatures everywhere is a non-starter. Could we get a calt only frozen build?
I'm hesitant to add even more variants of the fonts since I don't want to bloat our releases or add confusion, but I will talk this over with the rest of the team for our next release!
I totally understand the concern. However, it seems to me that if you're going to do frozen builds at all this might be the most valuable one. Code "ligatures" break far too many things in too many places to make sense for general use unless you have fine grained control over font features in every piece of host software. They don't seem like good candidates to freeze for use in places that don't. On the flip side, the texture healing would actually make a lot of sense to make available even to tools that don't offer that level of control.
I'd also suggest it's the most interesting/innovative part of this project, and worth making usable simply for that reason.
