Variable Font instances is all named Italic in Windows 11

Steps

  1. Download Release https://github.com/githubnext/monaspace/releases/tag/v1.000 an extract or Download font from in /fonts/variable
  2. Install one of the fonts located in /fonts/variable
  3. Search it in Settings - Fonts
  4. Open font face select menu

Actual result All styles are named "Italic" image

Expected result Styled has unique name, properly describing it's properties image

System info Edition Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 Installed on ‎2023-‎07-‎05 OS build 22621.2715 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22677.1000.0

I am experiencing the same issue in Windows 10 ( Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045). All styles named Italic.

Still happening on Windows 11 23H2 as of January update.

The variants as well as font parameters are messed up. Applications don't recognise them correctly as monospace fonts.

I think the discussion about this issue is in this other issue: https://github.com/githubnext/monaspace/issues/111 It seems that we will get a fix in the next release (not ETA yet).
