GitHub Markdown rendering has size limit??

Not my org/repo, but I've noticed that aws/aws-sdk-java/.../CHANGELOG.md stopped rendering correctly in early November 2020.

In both Firefox and Chrome, I see the raw text as of apparently innocuous commit 26c6df3336c58ce2865cfd62b139ada4f24321ed on 2020-11-05:

• shown as source text

As of the prior commit (71050e8931d22eff392e94ec4cece8da00ac4612), on 2020-11-04, it rendered properly:

• rendered as formatted HTML

☞ Oddly, if I refresh a few times, the rendering will sometimes come out correctly.

Also odd is that the ... status? ... line above the file in both of the above pages has the same note (irrespective of rendering and of date, as seen in current "master"), though the file was modified (as I write) on 2021-02-26:
