Table of contents can no longer be moved to left side of page

Description

In the previous version of the template (prior to 2-16-18), there was a configuration setting to display the table of contents on the left side of the page as well as its default position on the right. The "left" option seems to have disappeared in favor of the "navbar" option, unless I'm missing it and it was just moved somewhere else. While I'm sure I can make custom changes to move it to the left myself, it would be nice to have that option brought back.

Additionally, I noticed that even when the previous version had the TOC set to the left side, this only applied to the expanded TOC—when it was collapsed into a single button, it would move back over to the right until expanded again. If it's possible to reinstate the option to put the TOC on the left, could the collapsed TOC also be made to respect that option?

If there's a reason for removing this option, I'll understand—I'll just tweak it to fit my needs.
