Thanks a lot for reporting!

The problem seems to be that when there is no connectivity and background fetches failed due to that, an error bubbles up that unfortunately also isn't represented well.

Meanwhile, you might be interested in fetching manually by setting the fetch interval to a negative value.

Thanks for reporting, @CGQAQ I think this PR should fix that: https://github.com/gitbutlerapp/gitbutler/pull/8542

The next release should have that baked in. In the meantime, sorry for the inconvenience!
