May want to check this out as well... it's a DASH friendly leaflet plugin that can be embedded into DASH applications, and can (with some minor tweaks) use large image(s) as a tile source..

Thanks for the pointer @dgutman. We are definitely in exploratory mode on this and other issues like this that I put in today - there is a lot of room for ideas. We're doing some brainstorming toward the goal of making large_image more consumable to a broader audience.
There's also a similar leafletjs version that Dave and I got working in Jupyter notebooks... There's a gist somewhere that documents how that works as well.. I will try and dig it up and attach it.
