My Gibbed Bl2 save editor keeps crashing at random

Open ryguy997 opened this issue 4 years ago • 16 comments

I've been using the save editor for about a few months now and just started having this problem yesterday. It started off only crashing when I would right click to delete and remove a gun, shield, etc out of my backpack. So I figured: maybe its just a bug and I need to install the latest of the editor to solve my issue, but it didn't. Now it just keeps crashing randomly, like i'll the run the program and then 10 seconds later it will crash and close without warning. Or work for awhile and seem like everything is fine until I'm adding in new weapons and yep, it crashes :/ I really don't know what to do though since this problem just started happening, and from what I read (on forms) nobody is experiencing this too.

Created an account just to add to this. I am also suffering the same issue. Reinstalling dotNet failed as a solution and running as Admin didn't work either. Downloaded 1.0.42 about a month and a half ago and it worked just fine until day before yesterday.

Did Windows or any other software update in the last few days as well?

(Are you on Windows 10?)

I'm on W10, yes. And it looks like there has indeed been some "minor" Windows updates in the last few days, all on the 11th for me. Including a dotNet update it looks like.

Can you check Event Viewer under Windows Logs, Application for any recent entries about the save editor?

Can you check Event Viewer under Windows Logs, Application for any recent entries about the save editor?

There are errors associated with running the Editor in the Event Viewer.

arecaidianfox avatar Sep 14 '19 02:09 arecaidianfox

Are there any stack traces from exceptions in those? If so, could you paste them here in code blocks?

I'm very honestly not sure which pieces of information to give, so I'll shotgun and put up everything I see...

It crashes in d3d9.dll? The heck?

gibbed avatar Sep 14 '19 02:09 gibbed

Here's hoping the mystery can be solved, then. Right now I have just enough time to at least open my data, sync my equipped gear and save before it typically crashes XD

arecaidianfox avatar Sep 14 '19 02:09 arecaidianfox

I still haven't installed the latest Windows 10 updates, I'll update when I have some time and see if I can reproduce the issue.

gibbed avatar Sep 14 '19 02:09 gibbed

it's probably not msi afterburner but rivatuner that is stopping it from opening, turned msi off and still wont open, but if i turn of the rivatuner statistics it will open
