The configuration appears to be incomplete.

<no location info>: warning: [-Wmissing-home-modules]
    These modules are needed for compilation but not listed in your .cabal file's other-modules: 
        Conway Graphics World

Actually, this may have just been due to issues involving the macOS setup. Perhaps the only change needed is to also suggest in the README that ./dist-newstyle/build/x86_64-osx/ghc-8.6.5/Conway-0.0/build/conway/conway may be a necessary way to execute the program.
