Advanced Privacy Page

Open tillhouse opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

As a Ghostery Browser user, I would like a page that summarizes the special privacy features enabled in the browser as well as have the option to change them to other settings if I want to.

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA: This page should have an "Advanced Privacy" link on the options page. This page should have settings for:

  • Redirect Tracking Protection
  • Dynamic First Party Isolation
  • Referrer Data Leakage Protection
  • Tracker Cloaking Protection
  • HTTPS-Only Mode
  • Camera/Microphone Killswitch

Would this page be a page like about:privacy, or would it be another option under settings?

The idea is to have one place that summarize all the added benefits of Ghostery Dawn on top of what is provided by Firefox. We still have to design that page and find a nice entry point for it.

This list of compiled Q&A's regarding the benefits of Ghostery does would be beneficial when the time comes.

Maybe there could be a link to this after the user sets up the browser for the first time - something like, "Are you a power user? Click here to configure advanced privacy settings!"

For camera and microphone killswitches, maybe instead of disabling the camera and microphone outright, it could enable media.navigator.streams.fake? This config makes fake video and audio streams. That way, apps that request your webcam and video still work, but you don't give your real webcam/microphone. That, or have three options to choose from: microphone/webcam enabled, fake microphone/webcam, microphone/webcam disabled.
