Interferring the website even if paused or page was whitelisted

Open moegelin opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Description

Today I logged in into our work Kibana system and could not use the website properly. Suddenly I get something like this: image

So I took a look into the dev console and it seems like a script was blocked: image

When I deactivate the plugin from chrome the page is working like expected. So I tried to pause ghostery but still the plugin seems to block something of my page. I also tried to whitelist the page and still the inline script was blocked. Sadly I cannot provide the url since it's password protected.

Expected Behavior

When ghostery is paused or a page is whitelisted it should not interfere with the page anymore and lead to some script blocking.

Actual Behavior

Plugin blocks a script execution even so the page was whitelisted and/or the plugin was paused.

Steps to Reproduce

Sadly I cannot provide the web page since it is password restricted from my work.

Versions

  • Browser: Chrome 108
  • OS: Mac OS 12.6.1

Hi @moegelin, thank you for reporting. Wonder how we can help in this case. Obviously your kibana system in not publicly available, thus we have no way to reproduce the problem locally. Can you please contact me direct via email chrmod [at] ghostery.com ? Maybe we can have a screen sharing session?

If possible can you please do the following:

  • share with us a full url that was blocked and a full url of the page on which it had happened
  • try to disable Ghostery features: Ad-Blocking, Anti-Tracking, Never-Consent (from the Ghostery Panel)

  • check if the same happens with our content blockers like uBlockOrigin

Chrome platform migrated to v10. Feel free to re-open if the issue is still valid.
