This still seems to be an issue. I managed to find a workaround though. Use the `nvidia-open` drivers instead of `nvidia`. IIRC these don't have explicit sync enabled on them/can't....

The issue applies to all linux (and probably macOS) flavors. the crc config should be able to support a different destination, whether a different drive or partition
