VA Search blocks specific artist search
If the plugin deduces that the album being tagged is Various Artists, it does a "VA Search". Not sure if this is triggered by the presence of different artist tags, or just something like "Various" in the %album artist% tags.
As noted in #122 this can freeze foobar was it does this big search, but the other thing is that it's not possible to get the dialog box to search for a specific artist. It's stuck on VA Search. The only way to get around this is to remove the artist or album artist artist tags before calling the Discogger "Write tags..." command.
It would be good if we could enable or disable the VA Search, either in settings or right in that dialog.
With a few more experiments, it looks like it's looking up the entered artist, but the artist results still only show VA Search.
Yes, it is checking "VA" or "Various" prefixes in the album artist.

I will try to include that in the next release, together with a fix for #122. Maybe at some point in the forthcoming weeks.
Not fixed yet... But there is a new beta release in the Search by artist + release title discussion including configurable VA Search. You might find it useful as a temporary fix until the next public release.

The plugin also checks for multiple Artist IDs in the track selection, so the issue also relates to multiple artists' releases. It has been quite a gray area... The VA Search was very sketchy, and a big mistake to include it so prematurely. Also, as you mentioned https://github.com/ghDaYuYu/foo_discogger/issues/122, it exacerbated other pending issues. A solution is underway. Thanks for suggesting a quick fix while it is being solved,
