Most Icons missing over Remote Desktop Connection
When connected to my PC via remote desktop connection, then most of the icons in the player are missing. When I'm at the office in front of the PC, the icons show up fine. Only over RDP they are missing.
Here you can see the issue, especially noticeable on the top or left side bar. The buttons are still clickable and they do work, they just don't show icons:
Some more information:
- Windows 10
- mrv2 v1.3.8
- no other programs show such an issue
Can you check the Log Panel and see what it reports as the Install Location?
It should be something like:
C:\Program Files\mrv2-v1.3.8
I've made some changes to the code to find the installation directory. Give this beta version a try and report back:
.exe: https://mega.nz/file/je5z2CRZ#Hv-F-DigCoaQdR1nRrImiLHk2W1NH4e9I_9uUWi7Xxg
.zip: https://mega.nz/file/yDQEFK5S#ezA4Pb63raQ5ohPajYyCSTFnKa3iDVOkdq2iGgWviVI
I've now made the icons be compiled directly into the source code, instead of being loaded from disk on demand. This should remove all your problems with icons over RDP.
.exe: https://mega.nz/file/HGwHSCQY#aZdU9hGbDZ-tLoT9RdhprpYerYXcce-i1q4rzP8H6s4
.zip: https://mega.nz/file/XbJCDDiI#kBFNnU_iX1MEQ5yATGcHELg_a1td4NRwrPtEsoeaopw
Thank you, I tried the updated version but there's no difference. The icons are still not showing up (when logged in through RDP). The install location is the default one.
Let me know if I can help you with more information.

Are you sure you installed:
.exe: https://mega.nz/file/HGwHSCQY#aZdU9hGbDZ-tLoT9RdhprpYerYXcce-i1q4rzP8H6s4
This version hard-codes the icons in the C++ code, so there should be no issues.
To check, start it locally and verify if the icons are there.
Then, to further verify you installed the right version, select the shortcut (if you installed it from the .exe) and RMB->Open File Location. Go one folder up to the root of mrv2.
Show me a screen capture of that directory. If you installed it from the .zip, just show me the root directory of the install (do a screen capture).
Yes, I did download from that link.
I'm at the office right now. I'll do a screen recording now and will do another tomorrow, when I'm at home using RDP, so we can compare the differences. Will post here when I'm done.
@DominicWerner Thanks Dominic. Sorry you are still having issues. Make sure when you do the screen capture:
- You open mrv2 from the icon or shortcut (not through an association which might be calling the wrong version)
- In the movie, remember to show me root directory for mrv2.
On the meantime I'll try to find out how RDC works, as your report is really strange.
Okay. I asked some AIs and it seems to be a problem with FLTK's GDI+, which is hardware accelerated, and RDC which is not. I've reported the problem to the FLTK guys (the toolkit mrv2 uses), but it might take some time getting a proper fix.
Thank you for taking a look at this, really appreciate it. The player itself is working great, so I can wait for the icons :D
Anyway, here are the screen recordings. 1st one is when I was at the office. 2nd one from home connected through Remote Desktop Connection.
