Visual Studio Code has very aggressive mime overrides, for example:

There have been other instances but i can't recall them off the top of my head.

Steps to reproduce

xdg-open ~/some/path

Expected result

Path should open in the default file browser

Actual result

Visual Studio opens instead

Should be resolved with my recent overhaul of mimeapps.list handling, at least for KDE, GNOME, and Budgie. Someone will need to create a mimetypes file for the other DEs like XFCE and MATE, but that's outside of the scope of this.
