Update `CONTRIBUTING.md`

Our contribution docs are somewhat out of date. Some examples:

  • Mention of the send-metric command, which is deprecated and will be removed
  • The code examples in the "Integration Tests" section

We should take some time to update the docs to remove these out-of-date items. As a potential follow-up, we might also wish to add some more information to this document, as the current information is quite limited.
