X-Ray SDK Maintenance Mode and End-of-Support Notification

The AWS X-Ray Telemetry instrumentation (aws_xray_sdk) will enter maintenance mode on February 25, 2026. During this period, the X-Ray SDKs and Daemon will only receive critical bug fixes and security updates, and will not be updated to support new features.

Planned End-of-Support is February 25, 2027—after this date, aws_xray_sdk will no longer receive updates or releases.

It is recommended to migrate to AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT) or OpenTelemetry Instrumentation.

Hi @dogukancagatay , thanks for the heads-up!

I'm not too familiar with ADOT yet, so this may be a dumb question - but does this have any implications for the XRay service implementation exposed by boto3? Is that also being deprecated, or can the two still work together in the future?
