Failed to save entry: Forbidden

Open BrandonPR90 opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

Hi, I did read the other post about this, but it seems my issue is different.

I'm using Grav v1.7.23 and Admin v1.10.23. I updated our grav installation this week and I can't remember the version we were using before. I believe it was a v1.6. Anyway, when I go to create a new modular page it won't save and it gives me the error "Failed to save entry: Forbidden" Also, I opened a page in the same destination that had already been created and I could not save it either. It gave me the same error. Any ideas on what to do?

Okay, I did more searching and I read about some problems saving with the 1.7 installation of grav. I realized it was only my modular pages that I could not save. A temporary fix was to disable Pages Admin in the Flex Object plugin. How do I fix this long term? The solution involves making sure all of our plugins support flex objects, but I don't know how to do that.

Modular pages should save just fine, there's really nothing special in them compared to regular pages. Maybe try to isolate the issue by creating a second test site and playing with it... ?

Okay, I will give that a shot. Thanks

same problem here: I use a paid RT theme, where the page "contact" is a sub-page of "Pages" I cannot save the Contact page in "root" or move it to that destination, but I can create a new page. Grav 1.7.23 admin panel 1.10.23

@beamaria I saw another thread talking about that specific problem on this site. It was marked as solved so they may be able to help you. I think this issue is different.

@brandon: thanks for the input, but I think that these issues overlapped: the other issue is labelled s solved, but it isn't (at least not for me). it looks like there is something in Grav with Gantry5 that doesn't allow the moving/saving a page from one parent folder to another or to the root. If you tried that you receive a "Failed to save entry: Forbidden" error

You can replicate this with a base install of the Epsilon Rocketlauncher and try and move the Services page (underneath the Parent of Pages) up one level to root. I confirmed that disabling Page Admin from within the Flex Objects plugin as @BrandonPR90 noted above resolves the issue on the admin so you can move the page freely (it will break your Gantry Outline assignment though; if assigned by Page)... but then you have to renable it or you'll break the frontend: "Flex Pages are required for Gantry to work!"

Edit: I should note that I also encouter a general error in my installs stating the server can't read the .htaccess file... unsure if this might be related... I elect to keep my htaccess file set to 644 instead of 755
