Path Forward for the Project
Dear @georgewfraser,
Thank you for your work on the java-language-server project. It remains a valuable resource, and I appreciate the effort that went into building it.
I understand that maintaining an open-source project requires personal time. I am writing to respectfully inquire about the project's current status and any potential plans you might have for its future.
I have noticed a slowdown in activity since July 2023, though I acknowledge the recent burst of merged PRs in May 2025. This shows that the project is still relevant to its users.
Currently, I observe:
- 26 open PRs: Indicating ongoing contributions from users.
- 106 open issues: Showing continued reliance on this tool.
Given the existing contributions and interest, I wanted to reach out and ask: Do you have any thoughts on the best way to ensure this valuable project can be kept going and maintained for the future?
I am hopeful that a solution can be found to keep the project moving forward, and I look forward to hearing your perspective.
Thank you again for your time and guidance.
Good inititive and thanks George as well for the work on this project. I volunteer @alepekhin as a maintainer helper, as I saw him pretty active on issue pages and seems he would love to help :P (Not sure if @alepekhin is willing to take more responsibility though :) Hopefully alepekhin does not mind me ping you here and perhaps share some thoughts?)
I am happy with this server, it's super fast. I use it in vim with vim-lsc plugin. But I'm not sure I have enough competency to maintain this project
Good news guys
I continued George's amazing work here:
