Unknown Error when I try backing up files to memory

Open kov9413tam opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

I got a phone with Android 11 and I want to transfer my old stories to a newer phone, but when I try backing up I get an Unknown Error message. Anybody got any ideas how to solve this? (With android 8 backup and restore works just fine.)

You need to install the old version of the app to get it to work. Then you can update to the new version.

Are there other solutions? I can't uninstall the newer version for an older version because I don't have a backup.

@genious7, is it possible to enable the backing up feature for newer versions of Android (Android 12+) ? Similar issues: #74, #78 and #82.

A hotfix for backing up will be much appreciated, as people transition phones and can save the stories they cherish (some of which have been deleted from fanfiction.net). Restoring can be fixed as time premits.

As I understand some of the above issues have suggested to uninstall the current version of the app and install an older version to get around this. But I believe the appdata will be cleared along with it. Even if were possible to do it that way, I remember you mentioning that the backup feature is based on older api and would not work on newer Android versions. Hence my original question.
