[Feature Request] Per-application audio control

Open Tcll opened this issue 7 years ago • 2 comments

After pulse decided to finally break itself, I had to find another solution to manage my audio. This thing works well (even on XFCE), but only controls master volume, which doesn't bode well when Discord pings are ear rape, but you're trying to listen to music.

It's a shame that there's so many mixers available, yet none of them control per-application audio levels.

Did you ever happen to find a solution for this? Been looking for something recently and found this old post. Thought I'd ask since it might save me some time lol

unfortunately, no I can't even install volti anymore as void linux doesn't provide it though there's volumeicon which does the same thing to an extent, but still doesn't provide per-application control

though in hind-sight, it's looking more and more like a stream-server (like Pulse, Jack, or PipeWire) might actually be needed for this, if ALSA can't do it directly...

I'll let the dev decide if they want to close this issue who knows, there might actually be something possible. /shrug
