CPU frequency stuck at max

Hello!

Thanks for your amazing work. I tried your EFI with almost the same hardware (xps 7590, but 1080p screen). However, my CPU is pinned to 4.0 ghz and won't clock down. The activity monitor shows 70-80% usage for kernal_task. Any idea what it could be?

Here's an update. I figured out part of the cpu issues are due to the AppleAlc kext. Changing my layout id to 72 in my config.plist solved the issue. However, now the CPU won't go down below 1.2ghz. I used CPUfriend and the cpu friend helper kext and those don't seem to get loaded. I also can't inject them since this efi is based on opencore

@CryptoNeverSleeps I tried your EFI. I am facing a similar issue with that too. Deleting the AppleAlc kext fixes the high cpu usage although breaks audio. Furthermore, Cpu friend works with your efi and my clock speeds do drop down to 800mhz!

However, changing the audio hardware layout in the plist to 72, or back to 28 doesn't seem to do anything and it seems like the audio is broken for good.

I think I will experiment by removing the hdmi audio ssdt and then trying the apple audio. I will try that now and if that doesn't work I'll definitely post my EFI. Thanks for helping me debug!

Good news. I got everything working. The HDMI audio seemed to be messing things up and after removing SSDT and Kext from @CryptoNeverSleeps EFI, I got everything to work. Now audio works as expected and the CPU behaves as expected, idling at 800mhz. Thanks again for all your help!

Hello, could you please explain what exactly you did in order to get idling at 800mhz? Thank you in advance.

Post your entire EFI Folder so it will help others... Upload to Github or Mega.nz

Oops. Super sorry for the late reply. Didn't see these follow up messages. Here is my git folder: https://github.com/SaralTayal123/XPS-7590-Clover

Hello, Im having same problem as others regarding CPU not idling. Im using Open Core and geek5nan configuration. My CPU is jumping between 1,2 - 2,53 when idle (laptop runs hot and battery gets drained faster). I may think that problem is something with hdmi - when I plugin display, system restarts with kernel panic.

I tried to change layout id (as some suggested, but with layout 70,72, audio is not working) I tried updating the kexts to latest versions but no evail.

What am I doing wrong?

ps. @SaralTayal123 can you point out what exactly have you done to disable hdmi audio? How can I do it with geek5nan repo? As far as I know i do not see any hdmi audio kexts.. Nor any hdef specific ssdt-s?

maybe i'll need to repatch the intel gpu?

Im beginner in Open Core, so have patience with me :)

Laptop is dell xps 7590 with non touch 1080 screen, intel 630 9750H cpu, 16gb ram...

ps2. thanks for help

After many attempts I got 5h battery (i also have the nvidia gpu) First I disabled cfg lock as described here https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/fzv599/xps_7590_160_uefi_unlock_undervolting_and_remove/

I am using this repo (that I am maintaining) which has the dgpu sleep fixed and cpufriend set at 800min

https://github.com/shadowed87/Hackintosh-XPS-7590

I also configured undervolt with voltageshift. Now cpu is always below 50 degrees and gpu never turns on
