In text boxes <c-[>, vimium <esc>, and any remaps of it is still in effect

I would expect that in text boxes, vimium would behave like in insert mode. I thought the actual escape key was separate from vimium , as that is the case on a fullscreen'd video, the vimium doesn't actually exit fullscreen, while the escape key does.
