Constant web browser notification emails
Hi,
I am not sure if it’s just me or not… I’m constantly getting emails from Apple saying, “Your Apple Account was used to sign in to iCloud via a web browser”
I was wondering if anyone was able to stop these emails or get the same thing?
Sometimes it’s infrequent then other times I might get it 3 times a day. Most recently they appear to be increasing.
My HA is hosted on a fixed IP, so it shouldn’t be detecting any change in IP or anything? The integration hasn’t been reinstalled or anything recently either.
Any ideas?
You're not alone if it helps.
Same here! 10 emails last night
I had the same, logged into iCloud.com via web browser and had to agree to new t&cs. Once this was done, everything started working as expected again. Worth taking a look.

Thanks for the tip @RealGandy , I’ll give that a try

Thanks! Logging in icloud.com via browser solved the constant notification issue for me. It also solved another issue I had about the integration not being able to retrieve the list of devices associated with my account.
Hasn’t worked for me yet, still had 2 emails since I logged into iCloud.com
Starting around midnight CET I have received 24 emails so far. If this persists I will have to deactivate/kill the skill. It’s driving me nuts.
Logging into iCloud.com didn’t help.
Apple controls the email notifications and there is nothing iCloud3 can do to minimize them. However, see some notes in the iCloud3 docs here for some things you can do to reduce their impact on your inbox.

Thank you. Here helped too!
I don't know if a developer reads this. But i think there would be a solution. But i think it would mean to add an HA add-on (little one). In that add-on there should be some sort of daemon running which actually handles the login and receive the necessary data. Then the integration should connect with that add-on. Because the add-on is a daemon it could use some sort of keep-alive for the connection with icloud. Why i think this should do the trick? Because any apple device can also do it. But then again, i'm no expert on this subject.
Did not work for me...
@gcobb321 when you log into the web iCloud.com it gives you the option to tick trust browser, does the addon have the ability to do that as well?
I just logged into icloud.com. But on my iphone i don’t see that option anywhere. I did see an option to log off any browser sessions. Since i conpletely removed the integration from HA, hopefully that should do it.
That aside i also came across this: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102654 This looks like it was designed specifically for these kind of apps. So i wonder if this could be the solution? @gcobb321
I’m getting about an email every 10 minutes. It’s very annoying.
Same for me here too. Every hour or so
@Frits1980 iCloud3 is a web based program, not an app. See iCloud3 docs here
Also, Apple controls all logins and returns a Trust session cookie which is good for 4-hours. It then requires iCloud3 to reauthenticate, which iCloud3 does. Apple also requires a new code from time-to_time and iCloud3 notifies you when it needs to be entered.
Apple does not let web based programs use App specific passwords.
I'm not debating on what icloud3 is. I'm suggesting what could be a solution. Not saying icloud3 should become that. I'm trying to brainstorm here without bias to maybe figure out a solution for the biggest issue everybody experiences right now. For me this issue means the end of the current icloud3 use. For others it might too, i don't know. But it is and will be an issue. Simply repeating it is unsolvable is not going to solve it.
See here for instructions on accepting Apples new Terms and Conditions.
iCloud3 will then resume tracking devices
I agree with a few of the users. Thanks for your efforts with this addon but the never ending spam emails will have to be the end of me using the integration.
I hope in future you can work out a way to mimic the web version and have the app be a “trusted” browser and stop the emails
Apple controls the emails and does not provide a Trust ability like it provides apps. Like I suggested in the iCloud3 docs here, I have set up an email filter to dump them into an Apple folder so I never see them.
Hope you find another HA Integration that works better for you
The funny thing is i don't actually want to talk about icloud3. Btw icloud3 is NOT an add-on, it's an web app used by an integration.
What i'm suggesting is not to change icloud3, because you make it abundantly clear that icloud3 is not going to change (sorry for the emotional reaction, but you keep on repeating yourself and pointing to the docs.) What I am suggesting is a solution (with or without icloud3, apparently the latter). There are ways to make this work (in my opinion), you just choose not to take that road. That is fine, i'm not saying you have to. But you could be more open to the whole discussion.
This is also my last comment over here. Because i won't be using icloud3 anymore. So also no need to react from your side. Bye.
@Frits1980 I’m not saying I would not modify or adapt Cloud3 to use another method of communicating with Apple iCloud accounts if it was feasible and a solution presented itself. What I mean is that I am not ready to take that on myself and reverse engineer if and how that can be done. I am actually following a group that has implemented Secure Remote Password and using hardware keys (YubiKey) Authentication methods of authenticating account access.
I am a solo developer and have been dealing with Apple Account access for a long time. I would be glad work with someone (you?) who could implement your ideas. iCloud3 is open source so it is freely available for anyone who wants to give it a try.
In any case, thanks for trying it and you might want to give it another try later this year after I’ve implemented the SRP and YubiKey functions.
