iCloud account locked due to security issues
Fantastic integration but for the month or so iCloud3 integration stops connecting to Apple iCloud with the error that ‘user name and password incorrect’.
I go onto iCloud on a browser and log in with the user name and password. Apple then tells me my account was locked ‘for security reasons’ and makes me change the password. Put the new password into HA, get a code and I’m up and running again. 4 or 5 days later the pattern repeats.
Seems that the logins from ic3 make Apple think there’s suspicious activity and locks down the account. Recently I’ve made sure passwords are letters and numbers only.
This is a screenshot of my password history in case it helps figure out a timeline. Problem started in May. Is there a setting I need to change on my Apple account or is this issue happening to everyone?

I have not experienced my account being locked but have you reviewed the Event Log or noticed any errors when this happens? Are there any long delays when getting the code needed message to when you entered it? Or received several invalid code notifications? Are you also using the native iCloud integration?
Try enabling RawData logging on Configure > Tools and restart iCloud3. Then when it happens and the account is locked, look for errors in the icloud3.log file. That might highlight what is going on.
Hi - the errors in the log files were just saying the user name and password combo was not recognised.
I think I may have tried the native iCloud integration at some point. Plus, considering other people aren't having the same issue I decided to delete the integration and deleted it from HACS. I then searched all HA's folders for 'iCloud' and deleted any config files and folders that may have been causing a conflict. Did a reboot to be sure everything to do with iCloud had been sanitised from the system.
I suspect there may have been a rogue config file floating around.
Then reinstalled after making sure I could log into icloud via a browser. So far so good, although my iPhone and Apple Watch have taken ages to show up on iCloud FindMy - this seems to be a well documented Apple issue on Reddit. I had to log out of iCloud on my phone and log in, making sure everything was first backed up in iCloud. A real pain because you have to redo all your Apple Wallet credit cards on your phone and watch.
Hopefully, everything will now remain stable because your fantastic integration is the lifeblood of my HA - I have so many automations that turn lights & aircons on and off based on iPhone locations.
