Location update delay

Open Avinitlarge opened this issue 6 months ago • 2 comments

So this morning my daughter had an exam, I was checking to make sure she got there on time. When I checked where she was, she was about a mile away and being that far away, would have got there on time. I checked findmy and she was at college, I checked ic3 and she was showing as about a mile away. It seem to happen a lot, the location doesn’t match findmy, it’s like there is a delay updating the location. I do think it’s a great integration but the location updates are too slow. I’m 99% sure I have it setup correctly.

iC3 updates the location at various intervals based on the distance form a tracked zone (Home) if the device is in a zone or the device has not moved for a period of time and is in a temporary Stationary Zone. The time the device was located and next update time is shown on the Event Log.

The FindMy app shows the location of the device at the time you open the app. So iCloud3's location will lag behind the FindMy app.

One thing you can do is to set the college as an HA zone and then as a 'track-from' zone on the her iPhone's Update Devices screen. Then iC3 will track her as she gets closer to the college zone just like the devices are tracked as they get closer to home. She will enter and exit the College zone just like Home and you can set up notifications when she nears, enters and or exit the zone. As she approaches this zone, the location interval is reduced, leading to a greater location accuracy.

Same Problem here. It worked fine for several weeks now. But i recognized today, that ic3 got lots of wrong informations. Battery percentage is totally wrong and location aswell. Me and my wife are at work for like 3 hours now and we are shown at home. I requested a new apple code and sent it in the ic3 config. It was accepted but nothing changed. In my experience the battery info and location is quit good. Now its definetly not. Best regards Timo
