I see that the codec for functions has been deprecated, as part of commit https://github.com/gcanti/io-ts/commit/896eb9b3de71b29ee5deff2e55ec6e9fe43896ca#diff-a2a171449d862fe29692ce031981047d7ab755ae7f84c707aef80701b3ea0c80R2074-R2078

I'm not clear why that has been done. What are the problems with the existing solution? Can I help fix them?

ref here, #324, I had to come back to version prior than 1.8.3 Anybody has some solution/alternative for that one? thanks!
