time clock not responding after making a move.

Open Curious2021 opened this issue 8 months ago • 7 comments

just noticed after setting a time clock for a game of s-chess to 90 minutes and 3 seconds that after making a move the clock doesn't record the time allotted after making the move. it stays frozen at 90 minutes after making the move.

I have more information about this bug. Apparently when you set a game clock and start a game against the AI, the clock time is frozen...but then at some point during the game it 'remembers' there's supposed to be a clock running and then it kicks in...but only after 10 or 15 moves does the clock start running. This would make a great feature for a clock...like delaying all time countdowns until 10 or 15 moves are played and then it starts after a set number of move have been played. But this has to be classified as a bug though because all chess clocks start counting down when you start any game.

Works for me. Can you create a short video to let us see how it goes on your side please?

i'll see what i can do. i need to point out this issue sometimes can't be duplicated so i'll have to record my own game in order to catch it sleeping while it's supposed to watch moves being played.

i don't know how to record video for this issue but i'm attaching this screen grab showing the problem. As you can clearly see moves are played but the clock is stuck and no countdown.

What I see is FSF has 90:09 on its clock. It seems OK for me. If you play a game with increment and your opp plays fast, his time may increase. Maybe I misunderstand something...

Heres's a followup image from the same game but with my clock finally picking up that my moves requiring the clock to record the time posted for the moves. So for 5 moves or so pychess wasn't picking up the clock time as i was making my moves...but after a while it started to countdown. This has me wondering if you've implemented a time move delay feature that allows users to play games but it doesn't count down moves until a certain move number has been reached. I think the Chronos digital clock has this option but that's not confirmed.
