Some remarks about the Windows version

Open Invictaz opened this issue 4 years ago • 1 comments

Many thanks for the Windows version

  • For the MZ-RH1 you need to be sure that the usb-id is 286 (NetMD/HiMD mode) and not 287 (Hi-MD mode) in Zadig. Maybe this can be added to the readme. See screenshot.

image

  • When Hi-MD disc is inserted the software displays forever "Negotiating with device" Maybe a placeholder (Hi-MD disc detected, not supported yet) can be displayed?

  • There is no option to edit the artist name and track title separately

  • When changing the Hi-MD disc to Normal MD I have to remove the usb cable and plug it back in and press retry a couple of times before it works.

  • Playing back the music starts spinning the disc but does nothing (normal MD).

  • No option to seek position in the music playback

  • Previous / Next icons are now fast forward and fast reverse instead of correct buttons.

  • It is unclear that you can edit the disc title (a small pencil icon next to it should be more clear)

  • Not able to sort on track quality (if there are also LP2/LP4 tracks mixed with SP on the same disc)

  • Not able to select files and folders on the pc without connecting a Minidisc device

  • If you drag and drop an mp3 file onto Platinum MD the following screen shows. There is no way to exit that since the normal Chrome keyboard shortcuts do not work. Only a restart of the software works. This can be dangerous if file conversion / transfer is still happening in the background.

image

  • Selecting a directory on the PC shows all track numbers as 0 without automatically numbering them.

image

  • There is no option to listen to songs on the pc, unclear that the play / pause buttons are for music on the Minidisc device and not the local files

  • Conversion to WAV starts after pressing the transfer button EVEN with the disc already being full. There is no warning of disc full or something

  • After the conversion to WAV was done and disc was full there is only the message "transfer complete" which is of course not true since the disc was already full before.

image

  • Button transfer might be named "transfer to minidisc"

  • Missing total disc time (ie. 72 mins 40 sec)

  • No option to select single music files (only a folder selection option is available)

  • No option to safely remove the disc, it is unclear when you can do that. Maybe not every minidisc device has such a display that says "ready" or "standby" like my MZ-RH1.

Since I did not want to flood the issue tracker, I made them all in one. All in it is very impressive software so far.

Lots of excellent feedback - thanks!

Will sort through and work out which ones are easy fixes, and which ones are a bit more involved.

Some of the bugs will be issues with netmdcli (or simply features not implemented in it, that platinum-md can't do much about).
