Hi-MD MZ-NH600 can't play MP3

Hello, this model of Hi-MD (MZ-NH600) can't play mp3 but we have only MP3 format for Hi-MD. Perhaps add support for Hi-SP ou SP

There is no open source Hi-SP (ATRAC3+ encoder) yet. See https://github.com/dcherednik/atracdenc/issues/13

I thought the Hi-MD players can natively encode Hi-SP and Hi-LP. At least that's what I understand from reading the owners manual and online resources. I'm sure it can't be as simple as playing out raw PCM data and telling the recorder to encode Hi-[SP|LP], but I imagine it would be somewhat like that. I've got an MZ-NH700 and NH910 and while the 910 works pretty well playing back MP3s it would be nice to make Hi-MD recordings that both units could play.

Unfortunately this is something that no one has been able to show a proof-of-concept yet, and some very smart people have worked on it! Maybe one day, but (for the moment) a viable Hi-SP/LP encoder would need to exist for it to work. The link above shows some of what would be needed to do that.

For a classic netMD how does it works for purpose a true SP in platinum-MD ? It's not possible to add the support of classic SP to platinum-MD for Hi-MD ?

As long as you set your Hi-MD device to "MD" mode (instructions in README) you can record in standard SP mode.

It seems that they call the Sony OpenMG software to handle the atrac3plus conversion. I know this would introduce a closed-source component, but perhaps it could be installed optionally if someone decided they needed it?

That would only work on Windows.

Hello, Today I try to use MD mode with an Hi-MD disc but I can't use the MD mode with an Hi-MD disc. For using MD mode I need a regular MD Disc. I try to upload a MP3 with Hi-MD mode, and I can !! It's very fast !! but I can't read MP3 on MZ-NH600 :-/
