The icon color is not clear

Sadly the clarity of icon will depend on color scheme of your browser. I don't think there are any plans to modify it in future.

I think they meant that we don't know if green means the extension is on, or you need to press it to be on. I'm confused too

The icon of the extension changed itself. The first time i use it is a purple icon, but after a while, it becase a white one, the same as the color of background. Extension: 22.1.7 Chrome: 106.0.5249.119
