Warranty job to Non-Warranty

Open garysharp opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Warranty technicians sometimes decide a job is not covered - at this point the job becomes a non-warranty. We should support this scenario.

Note: We currently do support automatically converting the job, but only if the job's "External Reference" is blank. This feature was added in the case where a user creates the job but realizes its the wrong type (logging it with an external vendor)

Discussion: If we automatically convert the job types we might lose information (eg. warranty reference numbers, logged dates/times/technicians). The information (about to be lost) could be copied into a job comment - we're still losing fidelity though. Perhaps the more correct solution would be to "Force Close" the warranty job and create a new Non-Warranty job. The new (and old) jobs would include a comment referencing each other. How much information we automatically transfer (such as log messages, attachments, etc) would need to be considered (or perhaps the user could indicate this during creation). Technically this process could be completed manually now - but it might be nice to automate it.
