Using `data-*` attributes is an interesting idea. Ideally the smooshing process would strip them out, if present. I like this approach. Let me see what I can do.

I'd recommend you inline the images before you pass them to smoosher, with something like https://github.com/Wenqer/gulp-base64.

Neat, glad you were able to get it working. Agreed - it would be neat to add support for other variations, like TypeScript, LiveScript, etc.
