Make colours beyond 128 tile more distinguishable.
When playing, I have noticed that the tiles from around 128 upwards are coloured a light golden-yellow colour that makes the numbers hard to read (if you are moving quickly) and often means that tiles of different numbers get confused. Dozens of times I've thought the game had a bug, only to find out I was trying to join a 128 tile with a 256. This is especially so when I have the brightness on my screen turned down (on laptop/phone).
Even a darker colour would fix this, though noticeably different colours for tiles above 128 would be best. The difference between 32 and 64 is about perfect.
I'll see if I can add a wider distance between the start and end gold color
Actually, having played a bit more 1024 and 2048 different enough for me, but it's from 128 to 512 that are still a bit indistinguishable.
I'll have to admit that I've found doge2048.com easier because visually I can see tiles to join quicker
I concur, tiles above 128 are virtually indistinguishable during fast play. As a suggestion, you could make the 128-tile a pale blue and the 256-tile a royal blue. Then set the 512-tile color to what the 128-tile was for better contrast with the 1024-tile. Here's the color values I used:
Tile | Hex Color |
---|---|
128 | #75a7f1 |
256 | #4585f2 |
512 | #edcf72 |
1024 | #edc53f |
I also make a demo screenshot:
Not sure cold colors can be used. One of the design goals was to use warm colors only.
Ok, no problem, thanks for the feedback. I really think you've made an outstanding game, so sorry I'm being too petty. I would really like to see some more color variety, perhaps a pale yellow #FBDF83 or brown #9A6930 or something similar that wouldn't be too cold.
Here is my colors. That tiles don't glow.
