[General] Make the app available in F-Droid

Open ddeimeke opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

No, it is not, apart from not having Google Playstore activated on my Boox Device.

Describe the solution you'd like

I would like to have the app avaliable in F-Droid - https://f-droid.org/ - which is an alternative software repository for open source applications.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Downloading the APK to the device feels a bit clumsy.

Additional context

Nothing more to add.

I already checked the F-Droid inclusion terms, and at the moment, it is too complicated for me... this application using some Play Services, and the F-Droid forbids non free dependencies too, like the Onyx's SDK, as I understand the terms.

I'm using Firebase for basic analytics, crash reports, non-fatal logging, etc., I can replace it with non-proprietary analytics, but the major issue is probably the proprietary Onyx's SDK which is forbidden on F-Droid, based on the inclusion terms. And without the Onyx's SDK, the app is mostly pointless...

Hi Gabor,

thank you for your Feedback.

You could add another Repo for the F-Droid client like Bromite, Bitwarden and Threema are doing this.

Would this be an option?

Cheers

Oh, this can work... :)

Are you familiar with F-Droid repository data? If you send a working one, I can add it to the backend to generate it based on the template.

I found this two links:
